Focus

Wow, what a stressful week I am in the middle of. My Mom's health is very fragile and she is having problems, so I am coping with trying to care for her, take her to appointments, and to get her to comply with doctors orders. Tough job when they don't want to do it.

I also am grieving for our friends Gail and Bob. Oh my gosh, I cannot imagine the pain they are in with Alex's death. A parent should not outlive a child. Could anything be harder? There is going to be a large memorial service at Alex's former high school tomorrow evening(Silverton High), and his funeral is Wednesday afternoon at First Christian Church. I called some people tonight (friends of Gail and Bob) who were strangers to me. They all asked what else they could do. People in the Mt. Angel/Silverton communities are wonderful, warm, caring people. I'm blessed to live here.

Having said all that, I find myself extremely anxious right now, sometimes to the point of being short of breath. I was counting my blessings during one of these times today and realized I had become calmer. Sometimes I just neet to FOCUS on the good for a few minutes to be "okay". FOCUS, FOCUS. I'm focusing on my cozy, safe home and hanging in there. Love to you all.

  1. Dearest Sheila,
I have missed you, I am so glad to have jreconnected. Sometimes we need a wake up call about what we want with the undetermined amount of time we have available... I too am so sad, I can hardly breath for the weight on my heart..I cannot imagine the sheer magnitude of the grief that Bob and Gail will have to work through. We that haven't experienced this kind of loss can only imagine.. which isn't hard since it is our worst nightmare...
Thank you soooo much for your help with the refreshments you are a wonderful friend. I love you!
    JOY!

  2. Hi Sheila! Welcome to Blogland! Whoa..in reading through your entries, I went through SO many emotions. So very heartbreaking to hear of your friends' loss. Our beautiful daughter is 20 so this kind of stuff tends to hit me real hard. But despite that, your faith and willingness to focus on the beauty and gift of our lives will make your blog a nice place to visit.

Hugs to you...see you at the next Art and Soul!
